The well-attended workshops included yoga, paper-making, dollmaking, birding, qi gong, drumming, dancing, life skills, ground blessing and re-connective healing. Facilitators from the local area were Holly Cain, Sherril Ruckert, Dale Kwamsoos, Charlie MacPherson, Linda Rankin and the Gimli Drum Group. Th ere was also a children's tent with face painting and other children's activities and art programs. Not far away were booths where local artisans showcased their work. Gimli quilter Heather Lair displayed her work and Winnipeg Beach artist Helma Rogge Rehders showed her acryllic-painted ornaments made from beach pier wood. Amanda Kinden of the Manitoba Eco Network had a booth promoting both the network and environment-friendly practices. Cohan said the festival wouldn't have been possible without the help of about 50 volunteers. "Th e best thing of all was how the festival brought people together," she said. "Wonderful friends and neighbours showed up beforehand to help build the stage and loan tents and materials. Folks came out to donate their time, services and support from a wide area stretching from Winnipeg and Clandeboye to Gimli, Teulon, Fraserwood and Hnausa."

Th ose cancer survivors attending the event will receive a special T-shirt and package of Terry Fox-related items. Th e Terry Fox Run in the Gimli area hasn't had the level of support lately that charitable organizations like the Relay for Life have experienced, but this year the organizers want to get the support back on track. "Because there wasn't a Relay for Life this year, more people will hopefully participalte in this event," Snider said. This year the event will host both a 5 km and 10 km walk beginning at the Pavillion in the park with registration at 12:30. The 5 km "run" will wind its way from the pavillion to the end of South Beach and back. For those wishing to do the 10 km run, they'll continue through to Loni Beach and return.
